有那么一類樂隊(duì)，我們經(jīng)常稱之為Supergroup，翻譯過來可以叫精英團(tuán)體。來自加拿大溫哥華的the New Pornographers就是這么一支Supergroup，成員包括Thee Evaporators的John Collins、Destroyer的Dan Bejar、獨(dú)立制片人Blaine Thurier和一直在鄉(xiāng)村搖滾領(lǐng)域里混事兒的女主唱Neko Case（其第三張專輯《Blacklisted》是在the Bad Seed幫助下完成的），還有樂隊(duì)的主腦以及發(fā)起人AC Newman。

The New Pornographers樂隊(duì)的主要作曲人Carl Newman說：“我想要縮小Led Zeppelin樂隊(duì)和The Fifth Dimension樂隊(duì)的差距”。Newman在紐約郊外的一間小木屋里用溫哥華話來錄制《Togther》專輯，期間邀請(qǐng)了一些嘉賓，如在St. Vincent樂隊(duì)用吉他獨(dú)奏民謠《My Shepherd》的Annie Clark。由于朗朗上口的British Invasion旋律和演唱者Neko Case，《Togther》專輯聽起來仍然有The New Pornographers樂隊(duì)的風(fēng)格。Neko Case在樂隊(duì)的幾首歌曲里擔(dān)任領(lǐng)唱，包括歌曲《The Crash Years》和《My Shepherd》。Newman說：“她是我們樂隊(duì)的秘密武器，我們不可能不用她”。
