Megadeth

說起Megadeth，人們便會想到那毫不羞澀的嚴厲得象刀片一樣的吉他solo。那么就先從它的靈魂人物：Dave Mustaine說起。Dave Mustaine生于加州，最早參與的樂隊是于1979年成立的后來曾一度聞名的Panic，1982年離開Panic同Lars Ulrich和James Hetfield共組Metallica。而后來因共所周知的原因離開Metallica，于1983年同貝司手David Ellefson、吉他手Kerry King以及鼓手Lee Rash共組Megadeth。后來Kerry King去了Slayer，而Chris Poland加入，鼓手的位置由Gar Samuelson取代。1985年5月Megadeth的第一張專輯問世，這就是Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good! 1986年11月，Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?出版，從而引起廣大金屬迷的注意。1987年Chris Poland和Gar Samuelson被開除。Chuck Behler出任鼓手，而Jeff Young出任吉他手。1988年三月So Far, So Good... The band has since released 14 studio albums. A pioneer of the American thrash metal movement, Megadeth rose to international fame in the 1980s and is ranked as one of the "Big Four of Thrash" along with Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax, who were responsible for creating, developing and popularizing the thrash metal sub-genre. Over the band's 30 active years, more than 20 different people have officially performed as part of the group, with Mustaine being the only constant member. Megadeth is known for its distinctive, technical instrumental style that often features dense, intricate passages and trade-off guitar solos, and for recurring lyrical themes including politics, war, addiction, personal relationships, and religion. The band has sold over 50 million records worldwide with six consecutive albums being certified platinum or multi-platinum in the US, according to the band's official website. Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?, So Far, So Good... So What!, Rust in Peace, Youthanasia, and Cryptic Writings all achieved platinum status, the band's fifth and most successful record, Countdown to Extinction, sold multi-platinum, and the album Risk achieved gold certification.
